Warren Homecare Invests in Staff Training with Train-the-Trainer Programme

On 11–12 March 2026, Warren Homecare held an intensive two-day train-the-trainer programme, equipping our team with the skills and certification to train fellow carers in essential care techniques — from manual handling to first aid.

A Two-Day Investment in Our Team

On 11 and 12 March 2026, Warren Homecare brought together team members from across our Suffolk operations for an intensive two-day train-the-trainer programme. The event, held at a dedicated training facility, covered the practical care skills that are fundamental to safe, high-quality domiciliary care — including moving and handling, patient hoist operation, slide sheet transfers and first aid.

The programme was designed not just to refresh existing skills, but to certify participants as qualified trainers themselves. Each team member who completed the course is now able to deliver accredited training to other Warren Homecare staff, creating a sustainable model of continuous professional development within the organisation.

Hands-On Training in Essential Care Skills

The two days were deliberately practical and hands-on. Participants worked through real-world scenarios using professional care equipment — practising safe patient hoist techniques, learning correct slide sheet positioning for bed-to-chair transfers, and refreshing their first aid and emergency response skills.

Moving and handling training is one of the most important areas of carer development. Done correctly, it protects both the carer and the person receiving care from injury. By training our own team to deliver this instruction in-house, we can ensure that every Warren Homecare carer receives consistent, high-quality training that reflects the specific needs of our clients.

Why Train-the-Trainer Matters for Care Quality

At Warren Homecare, we believe that ongoing professional development is not a box-ticking exercise — it is central to the quality of care we deliver. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) expects registered providers to demonstrate that staff are competent, well-trained and regularly updated in key skills. Our train-the-trainer approach goes further: by developing training capability within our own team, we can respond quickly to new guidance, tailor sessions to our carers' real experiences, and build a culture where learning is led by colleagues who understand the day-to-day realities of home care.

This model also supports our commitment to staff retention and career progression. Carers who see a clear development pathway — from frontline care to training, mentoring and leadership — are more likely to stay, grow and thrive within the organisation.

Better-Trained Carers, Better Care for Clients

Every investment in staff training is ultimately an investment in the people we care for. Clients and families who choose Warren Homecare can be confident that their carers are trained to the highest standards in manual handling, personal care, first aid and emergency response — and that this training is regularly refreshed and assessed by qualified trainers within our own team.

We are proud of the team members who gave up their time to complete this programme and are now certified to pass their knowledge on to colleagues. It is this commitment to professional excellence that underpins everything we do at Warren Homecare — and ensures that our clients across Suffolk receive the safe, compassionate, high-quality care they deserve.
