Net Zero Carbon Plan

Warren Homecare Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, in compliance with the UK government's legally mandated targets established by the Climate Change Act 2008. We believe we have a responsibility to reduce our environmental impact while delivering high-quality, personalised care.

Emissions Scope

We are measuring and targeting emissions across three scopes:

  • Scope 1 – Direct emissions from company-owned vehicles and heating of premises.
  • Scope 2 – Indirect emissions from purchased electricity.
  • Scope 3 – Other indirect emissions including staff commuting, purchased goods and services, and waste disposal.

Decarbonisation Strategy

Short-Term (2024–2030)

  • Transition to a paperless working environment through digital care planning tools
  • Conduct full energy audits of office and supported living spaces
  • Implement green procurement policies for office and care supplies
  • Reduce single-use plastics and PPE through safe reusable alternatives
  • Promote carpooling, cycle-to-work schemes, and flexible work hours
  • Switch to renewable electricity tariffs in all premises

Medium-Term (2030–2040)

  • Transition to hybrid and electric vehicles for care staff
  • Improve building insulation, smart thermostats, and LED lighting in supported living facilities
  • Partner with local authorities to support decarbonised supply chains
  • Achieve a minimum 50% reduction in operational emissions by 2040

Long-Term (2040–2050)

  • Full conversion of fleet to zero-emission electric vehicles
  • Renewable energy generation on premises (e.g. solar panels)
  • Offset remaining unavoidable emissions through verified carbon offset schemes (e.g. UK woodland planting or peatland restoration)

Key Objectives

  • Measure our current GHG emissions baseline and monitor annually
  • Reduce emissions by implementing energy-efficient practices, transitioning to low-emission vehicles, and reducing waste
  • Engage staff, suppliers, and stakeholders in our sustainability mission
  • Offset residual emissions by investing in credible carbon offsetting projects
  • Report transparently on our progress through annual sustainability reports

Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment

We educate and train staff on energy conservation, travel choices, and sustainability. We involve service users in environmental initiatives and collaborate with suppliers, landlords, and local community partners to support shared goals.

Our approach aligns with:

  • Suffolk County Council's Environment Strategy
  • NHS Greener Plan
  • United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action)

Warren Homecare Ltd is dedicated to a fair, practical, and responsible transition to Net Zero by 2050 — making sustainability a part of our culture, procurement, and care delivery.
